Closer: 30 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Day Eight: Life and Death

What we sometimes overlook is that Christ's death defeated sin. What I mean is, mentally we kind of lump Jesus' death and resurrection into one compartment. We need to remind ourselves that these are two separate events with two separate outcomes.

Through the death of Jesus, we have victory over sin in our life. Jesus' last words were, "It is finished." If Jesus stops there...we win, because we already have forgiveness of our sins. Thank God He didn't. He rose to a new life! So then, as we die (to our sinful nature) with Christ we can also live. After His resurrection, Jesus' first word's were, "Why are you crying?" No longer is there a reason to be afraid, no longer do we need to cry, for we have new life!

2 Timothy 2:11:
Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him,
we will also live with him
So today, I ask you to live. Live life with a new passion. Live life like there are no secrets. Live life like today were your last. Yesterday He died for you, but today He lives for you. The old adage is true, "Everyone dies, but few people live." Live life for Jesus today.

Prayer focus: Pray that you begin to live the life found only in Jesus Christ.
