Closer: To God. To Home. To Others.

Day Four: John 4:9-14

The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

As we get closer to God, our souls begin to come alive in Christ. The scales fall from our eyes and we begin to discover a life that we never knew existed. Many Christians know Christ intellectually and maybe can even quote a few scriptures, but how many of us have experienced the spring of water welling up to eternal life? Our faith is more than emotions, but when you begin to become Closer to God-a passion, an adventure, and a life begin to come alive. Once the living water begins to well up in your heart, you will never be the same.

Prayer Focus: Pray for the living water, found only in Christ, to become alive and real to you as you begin to draw Closer to God.

If you have not received Christ as your personal Savior, you can do that now. Romans 10:9: "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." You don't need to be at church and there doesn't need to be any fireworks, you can accept Christ as your Savior right now next to your computer. Accept Him and begin to live a life of which even your dreams could not begin to imagine.
