Closer: 30 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Day Fourteen: Margin

Leviticus 23:22
"When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God."

Throughout the Bible, God speaks to us about His concern for the poor. How many gods that man has created to worship have cared about the poor...let's just say not many. What a caring and compassionate God we serve. It's us that get in the way. God has created enough resources to support the entire earth. The scarcity comes from our greed. Our God is a god of sufficiency. He has supplied us with everything we need. Think about this, "what do you eat or wear that doesn't ultimately come from Him"? God has enough for you and I and wants to use us to leave "the very edges of our field" for the poor and the stranger.

Prayer Focus: Pray for what you can cut out of your daily life, maybe Starbucks, that you could take and give to the poor.
